I have been betting poker now for about 5 years, I have played cards my entire life starting with games of Gin Rummy for pennies with my Grand Mother, to all of the various styles of Brag and general random games such as Go Fish, Crash and one so beautifully called, card on head game. I used to always win, whatever casino game we were playing and even though I liked to call it skill, it was incredibly difficult to justify considering the randomness of the games we were betting, so I was pleased to accept I was having an extended run of good fortune.

Then came Poker, or more importantly Holdem Poker, made popular by a group of Texas card players in the sixties and since grown into one of the biggest card phenomena ever witnessed. Poker is absolutely the new black, it truly is uber cool with many of the world's leading superstars racing to have their name associated with it. Just a quick flick through the TV channels these days and it is possible to not escape from poker, and certainly there's the fabled World Series of Poker, the Holy Grail and Mecca all rolled into one for each individual player.

So with all of this new discovered popularity, with so many Tv programmes devoted to poker, and magazine and book shelves loaded up with quality material written by the top minds on poker, when are folks going to learn that this game is all about position!?

Perhaps I need to not have so worked up about this, after all the much more people who have difficulty with the subtle techniques and strategies necessary for succeeding regularly at Texas hold em, the far better it truly is for everyone else, appropriate?
